In 1862, David was assigned the land patented to Patrisio Hernandez, a solder of the Mexican War. The land was in Wabasha Couny, Minnesota where the town of Zumbro Falls is located today. His land, shown in green on the map at right, comprised 160 acres and included SW1/4 SE1/4 of Section 31, Township 110N, Range 13W and N1/2 SE1/4 and SE1/4 NE1/4 of Section 6, Township 109N, Range 13W.
